STANDARD VISITATION GUIDELINES

(1) Liberal visitation between non-residential parents and their children is encouraged.  It is hoped that the parties can voluntarily arrive at mutually agreeable schedules.  In the event they cannot agree, and unless otherwise ordered, visitation shall be had pursuant to these guidelines.

(2) Visitation between children and non-residential parents shall not be less than:

  • Regular Visitation:
    • Regular visitation shall be on alternate weekends beginning Friday at 6:00 p.m. and ending Sunday at 6:00 p.m.
    • Visitation which cannot take place because of illness of the child(ren) will be made up the following weekend.
  • Holiday Visitation:
    • Holidays for visitation purposes are as follows:
      • Easter
      • Memorial Day
      • Fourth of July
      • Labor Day
      • Thanksgiving
      • Christmas Eve
      • Christmas Day
    • In odd numbered years, the mother shall have the child(ren) on the odd numbered holidays and the father shall have visitation on the even numbered holidays.  In the even numbered years, the father shall have the odd numbered holidays and the mother the even numbered holidays.
    • The hours for visitation on holidays shall be from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., unless otherwise provided by this rule or agreed upon by the parties.
    • Christmas Eve visitation shall extend to 10:00 p.m. Christmas Eve.  Christmas Day visitation begins then.
    • If a holiday visitation of the non-residential parent falls on a Monday following that parent's regular weekend visitation, then the visitation will be continuous.
  • Vacation Visitation:
    • Each parent shall have three (3) weeks each summer.  The parties shall arrange such visitation between them before May 1st each year.  First choice goes to the non-residential parent.
    • Christmas visitation shall alternate according to the Christmas Eve/Day schedule.  If the non-residential parent's visitation is Christmas Eve then he/she shall have December 19th from 9:00 a.m. to December 24th at 10:00 p.m.  If the non- residential parent's visitation is Christmas Day, then he/she shall have December 24th at 10:00 p.m. to December 30th at 6:00 p.m.
    • Spring break visitation shall be one-half (½) of the available time and shall alternate according to the East Day visitation.  If the non-residential parent has Easter Day he/she shall have the half which includes Easter Day.
  • Special Visitation:
    • Mother's Day shall be spent with the mother from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
    • Father's Day shall be spent with the father from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00  p.m.
    • Children's birthdays shall be celebrated in the home of the residential parent unless the birthday falls on a scheduled visitation day.
(3) General Rules:
  • The children and/or the residential parent have no duty to await the visiting parent for more than thirty (30) minutes of the visitation time.  A parent late more than thirty (30) minutes shall forfeit that visitation period.
  • Holiday visitation shall take precedence over other visitation.
  • Vacation visitation shall take precedence over regular visitation.
  • Neither parent shall permanently remove a child from the jurisdiction of the Court without first obtaining a modified visitation order.
